Flavours of the Republic
Trinidad does not hide its food. It serves it on the street corner, behind the market stall, in the back of a family kitchen, and through a window at dawn. Flavours of the Republic is more than a food tour. It is a guided journey through the culture, history, and people of Trinidad as told through the food on your plate. We begin at the Port of Spain Central Market, where the smells of fresh herbs, provisions and pepper hit you before you even walk through the gate. From there, your certified Tebet Tours guide takes you through five unforgettable stops. Enjoy a doubles, a traditional creole dish, soup, roti fresh off the tawa, and warm pastries from a local bakery. Along the way, every street has a story, every dish has a history, and every stop deepens your understanding of what it means to be Trinidadian. No reservations. No white tablecloths. Just real food, real people, and the real Republic.

Start the tour experience with the breakfast of champions in Trinidad, the ever-beloved Doubles. Barra (fried flat bread) served with Channa (Chick Peas)

This is where Trinidad shops. Vendors, farmers, and spice sellers who have been doing business for generations. Your guide walks you through the sights, smells, and stories of the market seeing what to buy, how to use it, and why it matters.
This is the heart of the tour. Trinidadian creole cooking is a story of Africa, the Caribbean, and the land itself. Your guide explains the dish, its roots, its ingredients, how it is cooked while you eat. This could include peas or beans options served with Macaroni Pie or Varied Salads, Stewed Chicken or other meats, Fried or Stewed fish can be available.

Trinidad’s soups are a meal, not a starter. Whether it’s corn soup, cow heel, beef soup, this stop is warm, filling, and deeply cultural.
We close the tour with two of Trinidad’s most beloved comfort foods. Fresh roti, and a stop at a local bakery where the bread is baked daily and the pastries disappear fast.
You have not truly visited a place until you have eaten there. Not at a restaurant chosen from a travel app. Not at the hotel buffet. But at the corner where the doubles man has been setting up since before sunrise, at the market stall where the vendor knows your order before you finish asking, at the table where the food tells you who made it and why it matters. Flavours of the Republic is your invitation into that Trinidad. Come hungry. Leave knowing us. Experience the drive, the journey of us and our food.
