Port of Spain is a city full of stories, and most visitors drive right past them. The Port of Spain City Tour Experience puts you in comfortable transport with a guide who grew up in these streets, and over three unhurried hours the capital comes alive.
You will roll through downtown where a nation argued its way to independence, circle the largest roundabout in the world, stand before seven mansions that each tell a different chapter of our history, and climb to two lookouts where the whole city spreads out below you, from the Gulf of Paria all the way to the hills of the Northern Range.
This is not a drive by sightseeing run. At Tebet Tours we are storytellers first. Every stop comes with the history, the humour, and the heart of the place, because the true beauty of Trinidad and Tobago has always been its people, and the warmth you will meet on these streets is the part of the tour no photograph can capture.
Perfect as your first activity in Trinidad, a half day between business meetings, or even a layover experience direct from Piarco International Airport.
You can head directly to the meeting point, or request pickup.

Your tour begins in the historic heart of the capital. We pass Independence Square and the Brian Lara Promenade before arriving at Woodford Square, where public debate under the trees is a living tradition that helped birth a nation. Across the street stands the Red House, our Parliament, restored to its full glory. Your guide brings the era of Dr. Eric Williams and the road to 1962 to life right where it happened.
We travel up Charlotte Street, one of the oldest and busiest streets in the city, where vendors, shops, and market life show you the everyday energy of Port of Spain. Along the way stands the Port of Spain General Hospital, serving the city since the 1850s and woven into the story of nearly every family in the capital.
The Savannah is the green heart of the city, and on its western edge stand the Magnificent Seven: Stollmeyer’s Castle, Whitehall, Hayes Court, Mille Fleurs, Roomor, the Archbishop’s Palace, and Queen’s Royal College, the school that produced two Nobel laureates and the father of our nation. We stop for photos and the stories of the families, rivalries, and ambitions behind each facade. During Carnival season, your guide can point to the exact spot where Panorama champions are crowned, and tell you what that stage feels like from experience.
We climb the Lady Young Road to the lookout for your first panoramic view of Port of Spain, with the city, the port, and the Gulf of Paria laid out below. One of the finest photo opportunities in the capital, and a favourite spot of locals at sunset.
On our way west we pass through St James, affectionately known as the city that never sleeps. Its street names tell the story of our East Indian heritage, it is the home of the Hosay festival, and its Western Main Road is a legend of food and nightlife.
We finish at the top. Built in 1804 as a signal station, Fort George rises 1,100 feet above the city, with original cannons, the old signal house, and a view that sweeps from the Caroni plains across the city to the islands of the Bocas and, on a clear day, the coast of Venezuela. It is the perfect final stop, because after three hours of stories you now look down on a city you actually know.
Note: The itinerary may be subject to slight adjustments based on traffic, weather conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Is this the same as your Historic Walking Tour? No, they are companions. The Historic Walking Tour explores downtown Port of Spain in depth on foot. The City Tour covers the wider capital by vehicle, including the Savannah, the lookouts, and Fort George, places beyond comfortable walking range. Many guests do both: walk in the morning, drive in the afternoon, and leave knowing Port of Spain like a local.
Can you pick us up from the cruise port? Yes, the cruise ship complex falls within our Port of Spain pickup zone at the standard $75 rate.
What happens if it rains? This is a driving tour, so light rain rarely affects it. The lookouts are best with clear skies, and your guide will adjust the route order to chase the best conditions.
Can children join? Absolutely. The tour is family friendly, and our guides are well practised at keeping young travellers entertained. Contact us about child rates for your group.
